Public Policy Consulting
Concord Square was instrumental in the crafting and adoption of smart growth zoning legislation in Massachusetts, and was involved with the drafting of similar legislation approved in Connecticut in 2007. In 2005-06, Concord Square completed a public policy contract for six states through the National Governors’ Association.
In 2006, Concord Square partnered with Eleanor White at Housing Partners, Inc and Barry Bluestone, Dean of the School of Social Science, Urban Affairs and Public Policy at Northeastern University on a public policy consulting contract in the state of Connecticut. Their work for the Partnership for Strong Communities on the HomeConnecticut initiative led to legislative adoption of an incentive-based housing and zoning bill modeled on 40R/40S Smart Growth Zoning in Massachusetts. In 2007, the Governor signed “An Act Concerning Housing for Economic Growth” into law and several Connecticut municipalities are in the early stages of implementing this legislation.
Concord Square continues to provide consulting support to the Commonwealth Housing Task Force on an ongoing basis.
