About UsConcord Square Planning & Development, Inc. was founded in 1995 as Concord Square Development Company, Inc. In 2007 the company name was changed to reflect planning and public policy services that grew out of our work on the legislation and planning for Smart Growth Zoning of Chapter 40R and 40S.

Development work includes a major historic preservation project, Holt Hall, in Portland, Maine, and extensive development consulting on a transit-oriented residential development in Charlestown, mill conversion in Westford and downtown development in Deerfield. We have provided planning and zoning consulting services to multiple municipal clients in Massachusetts. Concord Square played a major role in the legislative adoption of M.G.L. c. 40R and c. 40S “smart growth zoning” in Massachusetts, and provides ongoing public policy consulting to the Commonwealth Housing Task Force.

The company is dedicated to good design and the creation of high quality residential living environments. It is named after Concord Square, which is located in the South End of Boston between Tremont Street and Columbus Avenue. The Square, its buildings, and the fountain, epitomize high quality residential planning and architecture. It is a smart growth location — a short walk to the subway, to Symphony Hall, to shopping, and a longer, but comfortable, walk to the employment of the Financial District of Boston.
